| We are called to be in service in the name of
Jesus. We enter our "mission field" when we
step out the door onto the doorstep of
the church, but it also extends inside the building. We
care for our members, our family and friends, our community
and beyond. |
|
Prayer Chain |
The Prayer Chain offers immediate prayer in
emergencies and takes the Apostle Paul's injunction to "pray without ceasing" to
heart. To put a prayer request on the Prayer Chain
contact the church office; in an emergency contact the
pastor. Please see the
Contact page for
more information. |
|
Prayer and Care |
We care for our aging members through the
Prayer and Care Team. |
|
Food Pantries |
We support local food pantries run by St.
Barnabas church, the Long Island Council of Churches (LICC)
and the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN). |
| Far
Rockaway |
We are longtime supporters of the United
Methodist Mission in Far Rockaway. In any month with
five Sundays, we take a special Fifth Sunday offering with
the proceeds designated to go to Far Rockaway. |
|
World Missions |
A portion of our offerings goes to support
the mission work of the New York Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church as well as the work of the United
Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). We raised over
$2,000 in aid for victims of the Indonesian tsunami and
another $2,000 for victims of hurricane Katrina. |
