Dominating this window is the image of the Phoenix, a mythical bird said to set fire to its nest and then rise from the ashes. This symbol of resurrection is seen rising from the empty tomb. The spices to prepare Jesus' body are next to the tomb. Once more the Victory banner appears, this time representing Christ's victory over death. The butterfly, another traditional symbol of resurrection, is also present. Finally, the pomegranate, which bursts from its skin, represents Christ bursting from the tomb. |
